Well finally at the end of this information explosion. There have fun times and some exasperating moments such as not having access to instruction videos because our flash player needed updating or forgetting the password or login. Facebook as I suspected is not for me too time consuming and I prefer one on one contact not posting stuff on the net, while only one of my close family uses it on a regular basis my far flung family are still coming to grips with email, I also have major concerns about privacy issues and identity theft. Twitter may have it's use like getting a message out if other forms of communication are down, but for the most part much of it is just drivel. Tagging and creating bookmarks to access from any login point was brilliant and could be very useful in the library environment. I now feel very confident about assisting library patrons with gmail and accessing other online services. Flickr was a revelation all those interesting images just waiting to be accessed. I was already familiar with podcasts, but learning how to embed videos was great. My RSS feeds now keeps me update on model railway news. As for geocaching well more fun with my GPS, Leesa thought this would be good for promoting the Heritage of the Town, maybe find the location might be fun.

Geocaching and Wrap up
This looks like really good fun, playing with your GPS, driving it crazy as usual and going your own way. A good way to explore different places in WA or the World, a friend from the states looked for something here when she came.
Wrap up
Have had some good fun with some of this. Lots were much easier than i thought they would be.

Face Book
Finally got to view the instruction video on you tube and all was confusion because the current screens in face book don't match the one in the tutorial. So I spent a good deal of time trying to figure out why I couldn't find it. Not very helpful. How ever eventually put something on the wall and imported a picture and asked someone to be my friend. Whew
I've joined twitter now must do some tweeting. My Twitter name is Phoebepurrfect.

Tagging LibraryThing and Delicious
The trickiest thing about this was getting a yahoo account and then linking it to the Delicious web site, i seemed to go round and round until hitting on creating a new account and picking a suggested log in. i rather like the idea of being able locate my bookmarks from any computer. Not sure how much use I'll make of library thing but time will tell. make sure you pick books with a illustrated cover or it won't appear in the widget you put on your blog. Putting the widget was very easy but i would like to move it to another position on the blog yet to figure this out.
Jane helped me move the widget hooray.

Wiki Creation
Creating a wiki page proved to be quite easy and a bit of fun. It's a good way to communicate with a group of people. Our Library Wiki works very well, information previously circulated in an email, is now placed on the wiki for easy access. Much easier than trawling thru tons of emails to find the right one. My wiki is called stuffandnonsense and have placed on it vital information on the Perth Model Railway Show to be held in June. Vital for model train nuts anyway. Hehe Link to follow
And here it is http://stuffandnonsense13.wetpaint.com/ fanfare etc

These are the feeds I've added to my Google reader. Quite easy to do once you havethe hang of it. I'm not sure though when i will have time to moniter all of the up dates that are coming in, so in some respects it would be better to be selective about which ones you add.

Big Cat Picture From Flickr
http://www.flickr.com/
Wow didn't know there were so many photos of cats to be had in one place. Looks like a great resouces for doing diplays, projects etc. Just got to remember to use the Commons ones. i don,t think i 'd ever store any of my own pictures on a database that i didn't have total control over. I have a very suspicious mind and have visions of them turning up on the net somewhere. Far better to buy a plug in hard drive and store them offsite which is what i have done.

My First Blog
Picking a name for these things can be quite tricky, why has some one already pinched the one i want to use. Cheek. Since Phoebe is a cat these thoughts may stray to saucers of milk and fishie treats. Blah blah Blah. I thought was finished with this blog for the the first edition, but Lesley just told me that we have to do the actual 100 to 150 words and load a picture. OMG I just doing a quick count only 87 so far. Now thinking where will i find a photo and just three more words. hooray.
